WHAT WAS THE PROCEDURE FOR THE CRYSTALLIZATION OF THE WORK AND WHAT WERE THE STEPS TAKEN TO BEGIN THE ACTIVITIES.
The foundation for the care of the families is a blend of two organizations-for the children of the fallen paratroopers which was founded after the six days war by the paratroopers who liberated Jerusalem. And the committee for the families of the fallen paratroopers which was founded after the Yom Kippur war by other (regiments) of paratroopers.
Both organizations, separately, took care of the families by visiting them, bringing birthday gifts to the children and principally the personal touch. The main activities such as excursions, summer camps were joined.
When the law was passed the two organizations were combined under the name:
“THE FOUNDATION for THE CARE THE FAMILIES of the FALLEN PARATROOPERS" - Or in short - "FOUNDATION OF THE FALLEN PARATROOPERS "
.”
In August of 1984 the Security Services of Israel asked the paratroopers to adopt their families into their activities. In a tempestuous meeting in an apartment in Rehovot, (while were many were sitting on the floor) and a delegate of the Security Service (Yaacov Peri) explains the reasons for adopting them, it was decided to have them join.
In that meeting there were no monetary discussions. The only condition was that members of the Security Service take care of their own.
